On Those Cloudy Days (Wileman)
Inspired by the novel ‘I Am Legend’ by Richard Matheson. Back in around 2006/7, I toyed with the idea of making a full concept album based on this novel but decided against it when I discovered a new film version was being made at the time. The idea came to me when listening to the ‘Taxi Driver’ soundtrack by Bernard Herrmann and
I wondered about making a piece of vampire/gothic music that had jazz influences to help suggest the ‘modern’ (1976) American setting.
I never got round to writing a single note in 2006 but the idea remained at the back of my mind. Forward to 2012 and I decided to do it after all but was content to do it as a single piece rather than a full album. It is mainly a programme piece in as much as it sets the scene with the vampire attack on Robert Neville’s house, has the contrast in mood of his daytime and night time encounters and finishes with the final twist in
moral perspective that concludes the novel.
Richard Wileman – guitars, bass, keyboards, percussion, kalimba , pencil sharpener,
Helen Dearnley – violin, Caron Hansford – cor anglais,
Zoë Josey – flute, soprano, alto and tenor saxophones .

Mondo Profondo I (Wileman/Baber)
I came up with this title as a tenuous mix of my interest in Italian ‘Mondo’ soundtrack music (which has been a significant influence on the music of KE for several years now) and the title of the David Axelrod album ‘Seriously Deep’ (I discovered and listened to a
lot of Axelrod during the recording of this album). This tune was to be the start of a multi-part piece which would include collaborations from several musicians. I sent the initial bossa sketch to Matt Baber who in return provided enough material to make me rethink and turn it into a stand alone track.
Richard Wileman – guitars, bass, keyboards, percussion,
Matt Baber – keyboards, synth percussion, Ileesha Bailey – vocals,
Amy Hedges – clarinet, Mike Ostime – trumpet.

The Happy Breed (Wileman)
Inspired by the short story ‘The Happy Breed’ by John Sladek. It tells the tale of the last five people in the world who are not dependent on the dominating therapeutic machines that protect and attend to everyone's needs by chemically stripping their intelligence. When the last five ‘abnormals’ are finally ‘cured’, the machines switch off, their work complete.
Richard Wileman – guitars, bass, keyboards, percussion, Helen Dearnley – violin,
Caron Hansford – oboe, Zoë Josey – flute.

Mondo Profondo II (Wileman/Mohadev/DeGain/Rowe/Torabi/Mercy)
A weird and wonderful travelogue (the idea to make a musical collage was mainly inspired by some of the 'Jazz Meets The Symphony' tracks by Lalo Schifrin) with some guest musicians who were kind enough to add to the workshop of filthy creation.
Richard Wileman – guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, percussion, needle and thread,
Mohadev – guitar, keyboards, Benjamin DeGain – vibraphone, percussion,
Stu Rowe – guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, Kavus Torabi – guitar,
Phil Mercy – keyboards, guitar, drums, Amy Hedges – clarinet,
Ileesha Bailey – vocals, Marco Bernard – bass.

The Haunter Of The Dark (Wileman)
Inspired by a short story by H.P. Lovecraft (published in 1936) that tells of a terrifying creature that can travel only in the dark and is summoned via an ancient artefact, a Trapezohedron. The track was originally written for the Colossus/Musea compilation album ‘The Stories Of H.P. Lovecraft’ (released in 2012).
Richard Wileman – guitars, bass, keyboards, percussion,
Helen Dearnley – violin, Amy Hedges – clarinet.

Mondo Profondo III (Wileman)
A piece based on themes and variations from Mondo Profondo II, presented as pure chord sequences.
Richard Wileman – sequenced echo piano.
